traveling wasn't too exciting. We opted to stay off the interstate and take a parallel path to the north. It started out looking like Tulare County - miles of post harvest cotton fields. But soon we were riding through some great rolling country with scrubby vegetation, lakes, and juniper/oak forests. We saw lots of hawks and pick up trucks.
We arrived in Arlington about 2 at Adrienne and Heath's house. It got so warm (70) on the drive over that I thought about turning the air conditioner on! We had a fun afternoon and evening visiting with them and playing with my grandsons, Mason (4) and Gates (1). Adrienne says Carolyn can never leave because she entertains Mason so well!

Wow - mile 2036 and you're still in Texas. Does "off the beaten path" mean you were lost???? Nah, a planned side trip right.
I know you guys are probably missing all the great national news so I wanted you to know that Pamela Anderson has filed for divorce after only 2 months of marraige. Poor thing. I knew you'd want to send cards.
I hope you're calling home, Carolyn, I'd hate to see all those pretty plants die.
Hugs - stay safe

No whoppers! Hm, I would have thought you would have found a few along the way. Hasn't Ian (your gps guru) told you how to find them. I'm really surprised that you can't find them in Texas since their locations usually a sign with king on them. Not sure if it refers to king w or king george then again I thought you were headed to Maine to pay homage to king george at the end of your trip. king w and whoppers are like grits and butter down there Texas way!
Oh, I guess I misunderstood! You were looking for whoopers. There are some still ahead of you along the Florida Gulf coast. See if Ian will tell you how to get to the Okefanoke swamp. There are suppose to be two of them there. Maybe Ian can do the special GPS talk with their backpack GPS units so can find them. If not try the Chassahowitzka National Wildlife Refuge- the eastern flyway birds winter there, several hundred of them. Along the way you might also want to check out the Alabama beach mice- another of those pesky rodents stopping development along areas of the Alabama gulf coast. Oh yes, be careful driving the back roads- there are Florida panthers along the way and I wouldn't want one to run into your car and you be arrested for take of an endangered species. Then again king w would probably pardon you since you's be reducing their numbers.
Don't fret about Pamela Anderson's divorce, she's decided to stik with the hubby a little longer.
Have fun!
Ron
oh yeah, the house plants......thanks for reminding me Donna. What does it mean when the leaves are yellow and curled? Anyone?
I trust Gail explained that being married to me has given Carolyn 36 years of experience keeping a 4 year old entertained.
Hi Aunt Gail and Carolyn! I am officially caught up on your adventures. I need to pull out a map and find all of these Texas towns.
Drive like the wind!!!

So you are heading towards Baton Rouge today? I've never been near there, take lots of pics and post them! Have a Merry Xmas,
-Diana O
ps. No babies born here yet, what are they waiting for?
OK, where are you guys. Two days and no word - you must be in that part of the south that does not have internet capability. Remember, we are traveling vicariously through you two, so right now we don't know where we are!
There's snow on the ground here and it's cold - you'd think we live in the Pacific Northwest or something. Not as much snow as you guys will soon see though.
Hugs, Donna T.
